Education/Training : Introduction to your studio
An Introduction to your studio or learning suite (1 day)
If you have just purchased some new hardware or software that is complicated and somewhat foreign, don’t worry you are not alone. Many people find themselves with equipment that was demonstrated to them and looked ‘so easy’ in the store. However when they get it to their studio and try it out, suddenly everything can become somewhat overwhelming.
This course is a one days introductory lesson on how to use your equipment. The tutor Arron is highly skilled in quickly learning new systems and then teaching how to use these systems creatively and efficiently.
Duration: 1 day.
Location: Your studio premises
Prerequisites:
The only perquisite for this course is to have some equipment. Arron will assess this and your working needs. He will then set it up in the most efficient way for your working style. However if you are missing something to make the studio work Arron will recommend the best option in a price range that best suits you. Remember we have worked with a lot of people. (We understand that home recording studio can be an expensive business so we will do everything we can to make this stage as cheap as possible (in fact you can buy the equipment yourself from our recommendation, cutting out the middle man.)
Following this he will proceed to teach you the basics of how signal route around your studio and how to get the best results. The rest entirely depends upon the equipment you have. For example if you have aa microphone or two, a mixing desk (of any size) and a computer with sequencer, Arron will set-up everything (including the computer) correctly and then show you not only how to get music recorded quickly, but also give you hints and tips on how to best use your sequencer of choice.
Why take this course?:
Many of our clients have mentioned the fact that their equipment has been sitting around for months, as they have not known what to do with it. From this one-day course with us they are often recording, programming and editing the next day.
There is nothing more to it. You will be using and getting the most out of your equipment by the end of the day.
About the tutor:
Arron Selby is a producer, sound engineer, composer, musician and teacher of most forms of music technology. He works regularly in the industry, ensuring that his methods are up to date and continually changing with the scene.
Arron has taught sequencer skills and music technology at numerous schools and colleges in and around London and regularly gives training classes to teachers using the equipment.
